Flounder

MONTAUK is the only place you can catch SNOWSHOE FLOUNDERS. Light tackle, a short ride, easy fishing and plenty of fillets for the dinner plate is the rule when FLOUNDER fishing on the WINDY.

Fishing for SNOWSHOES is done in late April through the middle of May. We catch these tasty beauties on the Hooter Grounds west of Block Island. Our SNOWSHOE FLOUNDERS run between 2 and 5 pounds and are caught on clam and mussel bait while fishing from an anchored boat. Very often when fishing for SNOWSHOES we come in with a mixed bag of FLOUNDERS, COD, SEA BASS and STRIPED BASS. It makes for a fabulous day of bottom fishing on the calm protected waters of Block Island Sound.
